ADTA61 Annual Conference Tides of Change: Innovations in Dance/Movement Therapy
November 5–8, 2026 | Long Beach, California The American Dance Therapy Association welcomes you to its 61st Annual Conference
Tides of Change: Innovations in Dance/Movement Therapy. As dance/movement therapy enters new horizons, we gather at the edge of shifting tides to explore how embodied wisdom meets emerging technologies, evolving clinical practice, creativity, research, and human connection. ADTA61 invites attendees to engage in bold conversations about the future of the field while remaining grounded in the movement, relationships, and shared care that define our work. From the intimacy of virtual therapy to the expansiveness of shared movement spaces, this conference will explore the many currents shaping dance/movement therapy today. Participants will consider the role of AI and technology in therapeutic practice, emerging research, innovative clinical approaches, and the possibilities that arise when ancestral rhythms meet contemporary tools. Together, we will chart new constellations of care—cultivating resilience, imagination, ethical reflection, and meaningful collaboration as we move toward an expansive future for dance/movement therapy. ADTA61 will be held in Long Beach, California, on the traditional lands of the Tongva (Gabrielino/Kizh) and Acjachemen (Juaneño) peoples. We honor the enduring relationship of these communities to this land and acknowledge their ongoing presence, knowledge, and contributions.
