BOARD CERTIFIED DANCE/MOVEMENT THERAPIST (BC-DMT) APPLICATION MATERIALS
Board Certification, the highest level of the DMT credential is attained through a formal written examination process. Board Certification indicates that the DMT has a higher and more advanced level of competence legally, professionally and in relationship to the public. BC-DMTs may practice Dance/Movement Therapy privately, and is the required credential to teach, supervise, and advise other DMT students.

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE BC-DMT:
- Read and follow the procedures outlined in the BC-DMT Handbook and review the Instructional Guide for the BC-DMT application form.
- Complete the BC-DMT Application by the January 15th deadline (late applicants will be asked to apply the following year)
- Anyone using private practice hours as a part of the internship requirement, must file the Private Practice: Letter of Intent Form with the DMTCB ([email protected])
- Request Internship supervisors/employers and BC-DMT supervisors to upload support documentation.
- Request and send link for Letters of Recommendation to selected letter individuals to complete (3 required)
- Pay the Application Fee
INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS FOR THE BC-DMT

- All BC-DMT supervisors must hold the BC-DMT (American) credential.

Requirements after becoming an BC-DMT:
All BC-DMT are required to maintain the BC-DMT status. If they do not do this, their BC-DMT credential is considered lapsed, and they will have to pay an additional fee and accrue additional CE hours to reinstate the credential. If the lapsed BC-DMT continues to identify themselves as an BC-DMT, they are also in violation of the ADTA Code of Ethics.
- ANNUAL CREDENTIAL RENEWAL: Certificants holding the BC-DMT must renew their credential by paying the annual credential renewal fee using the Credential Renewal Form, which is sent out yearly in early summer.
- RECERTIFICATION: Every 5 years, all BC-DMT Certificants are required to recertify by documenting that they have completed the required Continuing Education hours and paying the Recertification fee. NOTE: A percent of all BC-DMTs who recertify are randomly selected to be audited.
