LAPSED CREDENTIAL POLICY:

All professional DMTs are required to maintain their professional status continuously, by paying the yearly renewal fee and complying with Recertification/Audit requirements every 5-years.

Failure to renew beyond the 90-day grace period following their renewal due date, will result in the credential being viewed as lapsed. If the certificant continues to identify their professional status (R or BC-DMT) or working as a credentialled DMT they are in violation of the ADTA Code of Ethics.

If a Certificant is unable to maintain their credential, whether due to personal, family, or other challenges, they are encouraged to change their status to ‘Temporary Inactive Status’. This status has a maximum limit of 4-years. If the Certificant need to extend their Temporary Inactive Status beyond this limit, they should contact the DMTCB Compliance Coordinator ([email protected]) to discuss the possibility of an extension.)

If a DMT does not renew their credential, or change their status to Temporary Inactive, their credential will be considered lapsed.

If a credential is lapsed, the Certificant should contact the DMTCB Compliance Coordinator ([email protected]) to initiate reinstatement of their credential.

Lapsed Credential

  1. An exception to this policy is If the Certificant has changed their status to Temporary Inactive by completing and submitting the Change of Status form. (See Temporary Inactive status (below for more details.)
    1. There is a 4-year time limit to the Temporary Inactive status.
  2. Professional R-DMTs who have lapsed credentials may not identify themselves as an R-DMT or practice clinically.
