Committee Description
The Government Affairs Committee (GAC) supports and encourages the American Dance Therapy Association and its’ members to engage with federal, state, and local legislative entities. GAC advocacy efforts focus on the promotion and advancement of Dance/Movement Therapy through education and collaboration with public policy makers, community/private organizations, and the public, in general. These efforts are informed by present practices, policies and legislation at the federal, state and local levels that impact DMT and the people we serve. Staying current and taking action takes a community. The GAC values being a resource to both mobilize and support members in these efforts. The core priorities of the ADTA’s GAC at this time include state licensure for all DMTs, insurance reimbursement, and advocacy that promotes the ethical treatment of the people we serve.
